As a new student, you will be required to create a unique character profile and post it under the appropriate board for approval before you will be allowed to start role-playing. You are not, under any circumstances, allowed to post in any threads other than your character application - though you are allowed to post under the OOC thread until your application is approved.
No cannon characters are accepted unless noted and approved by the Headmaster.
General Rules
1. Avoid cussing, especially IC.
2. Respect everyone on the site, especially staff members.
3. Try to get on at least once a week so the threads and plots can continue at a good pace.
4. Keep all heated arguments and fights to PM - do not argue on the chat box or threads. We don't want to hear about it, okay?
5. There will be no discussing of sex, drugs, etc. Absolutely no pornography.
6. Don't be stupid - this is an open website. Don't give out personal information, and don't ask for it.
7. Absolutely no discriminating other people or their characters for their sexual orientation, race, religion or gender.
[In k.e.y.w.o.r.d.s part of the application, please put in "Potter Stinks" to guarantee us sure that you have read up to this point.]
Posting Rules
1. This is a literate site, so in role-play please, write at least 200 words.
2. Do not use chatspeak in role-play. This means: U may nvr talk lyke diz!11! There is no book out there that uses chatspeak (excluding those in instant messaging form), so why should we expect that in our role-playing?
3. No double-posting, please. If you have something to add to a conversation, you can just edit your post beforehand.
Role-Playing Rules
1. No god-moding or power-playing - meaning you cannot act as if your character is all-powerful, nor may you play another person's character.
2. If you want to say something OOC while you are roleplaying, indicate it by putting brackets around the words or type in 'OOC:' before them.
[In k.e.y.w.o.r.d.s part of the application, please put in "Loony" to guarantee us sure that you have read up to this point.]
Applications
1. Absolutely no cannons, regardless of your reasons. This is AFTER the time of Harry and his friends but BEFORE the time when their kids arrived to school.
2. Keep your characters semi-realistic, if not fully realistic. This means they can't be a half-elf, half-vampire who is a student by day, superhero by night. That kind of stuff just doesn't happen in this world. It's too absurd, even for an alternate magical world like Harry's.
3. When it comes to personalities and appearances, be sure to give your character some flaws. Perfect and abnormal intelligent characters are just no fun.
4. You can have as many characters as you want, but if it gets too out of hand and you cannot keep all of them active, some will be deleted.
5. When applying for student - try to avoid tragic past like murder or sexual abuse. Of course, we know that this stuff happen in real world, but we want to keep it away from this board as much as possible. It doesn't mean your character is going to be boring - you can have an interesting history with nothing especially tragic in it.
[In k.e.y.w.o.r.d.s part of the application, please put in "Scarhead" to guarantee us sure that you have read up to this point.]
Sex Threads
There can be no graphic discussion of sex and promoting it. Not even threads rated as "mature" are allowed to have it, because there is no device that can tell admins whether an underage have read that or not.
[In k.e.y.w.o.r.d.s part of the application, please put in "The Dream Team" to guarantee us sure that you have read up to this point.]
Role-Play Golden Rule!
Must be in third person or first – depending on the board rules that you are posting in.
First person: “I walked slowly down the desolate, blood reeking dungeon…”
Third person: “She walked down the passage in confusion as a Slytherin first year gawked…”
[In k.e.y.w.o.r.d.s part of the application, please put in "Pea-brain" to guarantee us sure that you have read up to this point.]
